Abby Connect is a US live receptionist and answering service that added an AI receptionist in June 2025. Both run on one subscription: businesses send calls to the AI, to Abby's human receptionists, or to a mix set by call type or time of day, and the AI hands calls to a human on request. Plans are monthly bundles of 'Abby Minutes', and AI time uses half a minute per minute of call.

  • One subscription covers AI and human answering. A human-answered minute uses 1 Abby Minute, an AI-answered minute uses 0.5, and mixed calls bill each part at its own rate. Abby's AI receptionist page works this out to about $1.65 per AI minute on Starter and $1.38 on Growth. The pricing page lists no dollar rate for overage, no annual pricing and no free plan. All plans include bilingual English/Spanish answering, encrypted call recordings and custom answering hours with no weekend upcharge. Outbound calling is an add-on done by human receptionists, priced on request. The June 2025 launch press release mentioned a freemium plan with limited monthly minutes, but the current pricing and free-trial pages show only a time-limited trial. The terms of service contain both a 22-day money-back guarantee and a 'strict no refund policy'.

The AI receptionist answers in English and Spanish on one number with automatic language detection. Abby's human receptionists are also bilingual in English and Spanish. No other languages are named.

The pricing page lists 'HIPAA Compliance Options' as 'Human only'. The healthcare page says HIPAA-compliant call handling uses Abby's human receptionists, and that the AI receptionist is meant for calls carrying 'no protected health information'. None of the pages reviewed, including the terms of service, mention a BAA.
